Maegan reflects on starting OLIP

My first day as an intern… where to begin? The entire day felt surreal, as though such an experience couldn’t truly be happening. After meeting with the Premier, which was very exciting and unexpected in itself, the rest of the day was spent getting to know the other interns, the programme and its administrators. First, the interns are a wonderful group of extremely dedicated and involved individuals who have a plethora of unique and interesting experiences to add to OLIP. I am truly looking forward to spending the next ten months with them and feel very lucky to be part of such a wonderful team. The administrators too are all very helpful, intelligent and friendly with a great deal of experience and knowledge to offer. Lastly the programme itself is simply unbelievable! The various events and meetings that are already scheduled into our calendars are in places or with people I had never imagined I would have the opportunity to meet and I cannot wait to get started! Which is of course all in addition to the opportunity we get as interns to work first hand with an MPP and to participate actively in the Ontario Legislature, smoething which I am looking forward to immensely. All in all, my first day though surreal appears to be only a small taste of the incredible year to come ahead, of which I am extremely fortunate and thankful to be a part of.
