The Interns meet with Sheena Weir from the Law Society of Upper Canada

On Tuesday September 29th, the interns had the pleasure of meeting with the Law Society of Upper Canada’s Manager of Government Relations, Sheena Weir. As a number of us are interested in pursuing a law degree following the internship, the meeting was extremely insightful and informative. The LSUC serves a number of roles from regulating the legal professions in the public interest, to promoting access to justice through its support of programs like Pro Bono Law Ontario and Ontario Justice Education Network, to administering a number of Equity Initiatives. Of particular interest was the discussion on the retention of women in the legal profession. We all very much appreciated that Sheena took the time to meet with us and hope to meet with her again in the spring.
