Our recent trip to Quebec City and Ottawa presented a great opportunity to compare and contrast our experiences at Queen’s Park with the National Assembly and Parliament Hill. I particularly enjoyed visiting the National Assembly as I had never been to Quebec City before. The architecture and décor of the building is much different from Queen’s Park and is definitely worth seeing at least once. One of my favourite meetings on the trip was during our time in Ottawa. We went to the Supreme Court for a tour, and afterwards had a meeting with Supreme Court justice Marshall Rothstein. Justice Rothstein was selected by Prime Minister Harper in 2006, and was the first judge appointed via the reformed appointment process. Having a question and answer meeting with a Supreme Court judge was definitely one of those moments where I felt very lucky to be in the position I am in right now, and made me appreciate the amazing opportunities this internship affords us.
