This week we returned to Queen’s Park to our placements, subsequent to nearly two weeks of holiday lounging at our homesteads. Upon my return, I found there remains a heavy workload and significant projects to undertake, despite the fact that the House does not resume session until February 22nd. I am helping research legislation for Jean-Marc Lalonde’s upcoming private members bills. It has been worthwhile to observe and participate in the process of drafting legislation. I am seeing, first hand, how including certain provisions, and omitting others, can impact the probability that the prospective legislation will progress further in the House. I was happy to have the chance to sit down and have lunch with M. Lalonde and our other staff this afternoon, as he is in the riding for much of this month. In other news, the wheels on the internship machine are quickly accelerating, and I definitely sense that the pace has shifted. Our intern trip, academic papers, second placements, and committee obligations are upon us.
