If I had to pick one word to describe starting this internship, it would definitely be “whirlwind”. In just over a week, I went from handing in my master’s dissertation to the first day of work. In between, I managed to squeeze in two big moves – one from the UK back to Canada, and the other to my new apartment in Toronto. The beginning of the internship has been similarly exhilarating. After meeting my fellow interns, I’m excited about working alongside and learning from them. The first few days of meetings have made me realize what an incredible opportunity we have to learn from so many skilled and knowledgeable individuals, and I’m sure we’ll be calling on their advice frequently as we try to get a handle on Queen’s Park. For now, though, I’m grateful to be meeting with legislative staff and sponsors, and I know we’re all tracking the news closely as the election heats up! It’s going to be a great year.
