The OLIP interns were pleased to meet with Nancy Marling who is the Director of Human Resources for the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The interactive session started with Nancy giving us an informative and interesting explanation of her role at Queen’s Park as well as the tasks that the Human Resources Department faces on a daily basis. The frequent shuffling of staff in the “Pink Palace” keeps her department extremely busy! Not to mention the complicated process of hiring for high-profile positions that has taken place in the recent past.
Nancy was also kind enough to delve into her personal career path explaining her experiences working in the private, not-for-profit, and now government sectors. Furthermore, being an impressively successful HR professional the interns were grateful to listen to her tips for applying for future jobs and preparing for interviews – we will certainly be using her advice in the future!
Thank you Nancy for taking time to meet with the 2013/2014 interns!
