Next, we headed up above the skylight and into the attic. This however is no typical dusty attic, it is arguably the nicest space in the building and it is where you can find the Hansard Reporting and Interpretation Services offices. Here we met with Peggy Brooks, the Managing Editor, and though we surprised her with our visit she didn’t hesitate at all to share with us her time and give us a rundown of the branch. We were able to gain a better understanding of what they do up in this hidden corner of the “Pink Palace” and how they do it. We were amazed to find out that our interpreters translate both English to French and French to English which is quite unique to our province. It is also quite impressive that the Hansard reporters produce a record of Question Period on the same day!
