The eyes and ears of Queen’s Park: a meeting with Broadcast and Recording Services

If you want to see a different side of the Legislature just ask Arleigh Holder for a tour.

Director of Broadcast and Recording Service at the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Holder brought us behind the scenes, showing how they record events in the media room,  committee rooms and the Chamber.  Having just stepped out of Estimates, it was great to see the role of Broadcast and Recording Services in making these conversations accessible to the public. Next, he took us on a tour of the Chamber, highlighting the all the elements that make broadcasting possible, including all 210 microphones, the control booth, and what Mr. Holder calls the best TV lighting. But the highlight of the tour was by far our exploration of the attic, with a birds-eye-view of the Chamber and a great vantage point down University Ave. Over the next nine months, we look forward to exploring more hidden gems in the Legislature!
