This past week marked my first days in the office of PC MPP Lisa Thompson. And what a busy week it was! The first day I wrote a members’ statement and press release, met with stakeholders, and helped prepare a question for later in the week. Provided MPP Thompson is Critic for Environment and Climate Change and Ontario’s representative for the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians Steering Committee, there is no shortage of interesting work to get involved in!
Within minutes of meeting Lisa, her passion and genuine excitement for the work she does becomes evident. The proud owner of a goat farm and lover of all things rural, she is in touch with the issues facing her riding of Huron-Bruce and dedicated to ensuring they are represented at the Legislature.
Today, I will head to Huron-Bruce for a Family Health Team Roundtable. Led by MPP Thompson and PC Interim Leader Jim Wilson, the Roundtable will engage family health teams in a discussion about the challenges they face in providing quality health care in rural communities. Stay tuned for an update on how it goes!
Overall, MPP Thompson, her Legislative Assistant Victoria, and the lovely women who work in her constituency offices have been extremely open and welcoming. I look forward to the coming months!
