As OLIP interns, we often have to pinch ourselves as to the unbelievable opportunities we get to meet exceptional Canadians in both the private and the public sector. Having the chance to meet and speak to the federal interim leader of the Conservative Party, Rona Ambrose, was one of those moments.
Speaking at a Canadian Club luncheon event, The Honourable Rona Ambrose, addressed the Conservative party’s most recent electoral loss, pointing to some of the challenges the party faced. Nevertheless, Ms. Ambrose also spoke optimistically about the opportunities she envisions for Canada and how the Conservative party can work to rebuild and work as a strong opposition to hold the current government accountable.
Having the opportunity to speak to Ms. Ambrose after the event, the interns were also delighted to hear Ms. Ambrose speak about some of the unique challenges of working as a woman in politics. Ms. Ambrose also undoubtedly inspired some of the interns as she expressed her hopes, that as a group that is predominantly female this year, we will one day join the ranks and ourselves be elected into office.
